Under Polovets' guidance, it has implemented matching grant programs that have successfully leveraged the potential of each prize, successfully doubling and tripling the annual $1 million prize, galvanizing other funders around important philanthropic causes. "The matching grants program has been a powerful tool for increasing the impact of our philanthropic efforts," Polovets notes.
The Genesis Prize has honored a distinguished array of laureates since its inception. The recipients, in order, have been Michael Bloomberg, Michael Douglas, Itzhak Perlman, Anish Kapoor, Natalie Portman, Robert Kraft, Natan Sharansky, Steven Spielberg, Albert Bourla, and Barbra Streisand. Additionally, Ruth Bader Ginsburg was awarded a special Lifetime Achievement Award, and Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks was awarded a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award. And, in a significant move, the foundation also recognized Jewish activists and organizations aiding Ukraine as well as Israeli organizations providing critical support to hostages abducted by Hamas and their families.
